True Patriot Love, in partnership with Scotiabank, hosts Photography Reception in celebration of 2016 Antarctica Expedition

On Wednesday, April 7th, Toronto's corporate and community leaders gathered at the Scotiabank Conference Centre, in downtown Toronto, to witness the unveiling of a collection of stunning photographs captured by renowned photographer and Nikon Ambassador, Kristian Bogner, on the recent True Patriot Love expedition to Antarctica.

Over 100 guests from various business and philanthropic communities came together to witness the unveiling of 10 spectacular photographs from the expedition. Each image captured the extreme conditions and dramatic landscapes of the remote continent, while also telling a story of the personal journeys of both the soldiers and civilian participants on the expedition.

Included in the evening was an announcement of the official amount raised from theTrue Patriot Love Scotiabank Expedition: Antarctica, with the final number reaching just over $2.46 million! All funds raised will support Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and their families across the country.

"Through our fundraising efforts through the expeditions to the Himalayas, the North Pole and Antarctica, we have been able to give more than $2 million to programs that support our service men and women, veterans and their families," said Shaun Francis, Chair of True Patriot Love Foundation. "From our Antarctica Expedition, we were able to provide funding to an agency in Alberta who placed 114 ill and injured soldiers into jobs in 2015."

True Patriot Love would like to extend a sincere thank you to Expedition Presenting Sponsor, Scotiabank, for its continuous support of TPL's vision since our first expedition to the Himalayas in 2012.

The evening was hosted by TPL partner, Scotiabank, and presented the images taken on the Antarctica expedition by renowned photographer and Nikon Ambassador, Kristian Bogner.

True Patriot Love Unveils Highway of Heroes Plaque

On the afternoon of April 27th, True Patriot Love Foundation, in partnership with Kohl & Frisch, was honoured to unveil the Highway 401 and Avenue Road Highway of Heroes plaque, paying tribute to our fallen soldiers.

Beginning in 2007 as a grassroots movement, the Highway of Heroes is a moving example of how deeply and passionately Canadians feel about our soldiers and their families. In sun, rain and freezing cold, Canadians from all walks of life gather on the 26 bridges that line the 172km stretch from Trenton to Toronto, to show their unwavering support for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their
country.

A sincere thank you to Kohl & Frisch for your support. Click here for CTV coverage on the True Patriot Love Highway for Heroes plaque unveiling.

CIMVHR Shares Impact of First Round of TPL Funding

At the beginning of 2015, True Patriot Love was proud to make its largest disbursement to date, committing $5 million to the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR) over the next 10 years.

The first round of funding was disbursed in early 2015, and we are proud to announce that with those funds, CIMVHR has been able to support cutting edge research in new technology for upper limb amputees at the University of Alberta, as well as the development and implementation of a database in Ontario - the first of its kind - that tracks all veterans and military families.

According to Alice Aiken, Scientific Director at CIMVHR, "the impact that TPL’s funding will have on the future health of veterans and military families is invaluable. For the first time ever veterans with an upper limb prosthetic can feel what they are touching instead of having to look at it. And for the first time ever we are able to follow a cohort of veterans, and we now understand that they are higher users of the health system for mental health reasons, especially in the first five years post release."

These previously unknown insights will dramatically change the future for veteran and military family population; TPL is proud to support CIMVHR's groundbreaking developments in the years to come.
